Ongoing Maintenance:
We will provide ongoing maintenance under a separate agreement. The list of preventative maintenance items includes:
• Solar panels: cleaning; examination for broken cells and connection wires; measurement of voltage and amperage output. Double or triple cleaning cycles during the dusty season.
• Batteries: checking for rust or physical damage; measuring charge and capacity looking for a maximum 30% drop in conductivity over time.
• LED lamps: cleaning, measuring luminous intensity; examination for individual LED failures; checking for frayed or broken wire connections.
• Signal Circuitry: activation of internal self diagnostic procedure; conflict monitor recertification; checking for moisture incursion, frayed or broken electrical wire or antenna cable connections.
• Mounting systems & Signal Heads: examination for cracks/breakage; examination for loose or missing connecting bolts, etc.
The maintenance crew will carry all necessary tools and spare parts for immediate replacement of any component that does not meet strict, measurable criteria.

Emergency repairs
The repair crew will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for emergency repairs with a guaranteed 4 hour response time. This service will be available either as an annual emergency maintenance contract or on an hourly base. The emergency crew will immediately respond to notification from the police, from the municipal transportation department or from the public that any unit has been damaged, stolen or is not functioning as required.

Traffic signal technology has progressed slowly over the past 100 years.  Advancements have been hampered by a stubborn adherence to the way things have always been done.  Modern, AC powered signal control systems rely on large components inside the signal cabinet.  A cell-phone has more computing power than sent men to the moon, but the transportation industry continues to work with the premise that bigger is better.

To date, solar traffic signals have been built by converting standard AC systems.  They still contain a controller and conflict monitor, and have simply added a solar panel and power control system.

International Solar Signal Inc. replaces these systems, typically larger than one cubic metre, with a single circuit board measuring mere centemetres. This one board replaces the entire signal system.

IntSolar is the first company to start with a blank slate - the first company not to use pre-existing, AC powered traffic signal systems.

IntSolar's engineers have developed circuitry and software with the first priority given to reducing energy consumption while maintaining reliable signal operation under sun stressed situations.
